The Citrix Ready workspace hub’s Citrix Casting Features are Available for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac

Citrix Casting on the workspace hub

We are excited for Citrix’s recent announcement that Citrix Casting is now available for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac devices. Citrix Casting is built on the Citrix Ready workspace hub platform, pioneered by Stratodesk. The workspace hub is the progressive IoT endpoint device capable of powering the future of work. Built on the Raspberry Pi 3, it runs on Stratodesk software and integrates with Citrix technology. It connects to your Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops directly out of the box thanks to Citrix Workspace app, and it is readily available from ViewSonic and NComputing at a fraction of the cost of x86 Thin Clients.

Citrix Casting – A Refresher Course

If you recall, we announced the Technical Preview phase of Citrix Casting a few months back. Citrix Casting is the ability to seamlessly roam Citrix sessions from a tablet or smart phone to any workspace station. This feature is, as of now, exclusive to the Citrix Ready workspace hub. So if the other reasons haven’t convinced you to buy one from one of our partners yet, here’s another: Citrix Casting is now officially generally available for your favorite devices.

Citrix Casting from Your Smart Phone

Take advantage of Citrix Casting from your smart phone to workspace hub device. This is done securely via biometric authentication. After that, simply point your phone to the QR code on the workspace hub. Your phone can then be used to make calls without it disrupting your full session on the Hub, making it ideal for shared and busy workstations.

Use Citrix Casting on Your iPad or Android Tablet

Ideal for any workplace, and perhaps even more so for healthcare settings, Citrix Casting allows you to seamlessly “cast” your session from your tablet, to your hub, and then back to your tablet again when you leave your workstation. Users can of course take advantage of a full keyboard, mouse and desktop experience this way without compromising on mobility.

Works with Windows Laptop and Mac

You can conveniently cast video from your Mac or Windows laptop to any workspace hub. One great use case for this feature is easily casting to a bigger display, connected to a workspace hub, in a meeting room. It’s also ideal for shared workspaces.

The benefits of Citrix Casting help demonstrate the versatility and unique capabilities of the Workspace Hub. Meanwhile, they don’t take away from the fact that the Workspace Hub is a great replacement for standard Thin Clients. With the help of Stratodesk software, you can easily scale your existing environment and manage both x86 and workspace hub devices in a single pane of glass. Benefit from everything you need from an enterprise grade endpoint including: Skype for Business, H.264 decoder, multimonitor/peripheral support and beyond.

Depending on the use case, you can also enable beacon proximity instead of using the QR code as mentioned above. Citrix Casting is easily activated via the Workspace App settings. Casting is only possible across devices in the same network.
