What is a Stratodesk Device? Endpoints running Stratodesk NoTouch OS are found everywhere – in hospitals, in the financial sector, in stores, in enterprise settings, in government institutions, and in college classrooms. But what exactly is a Stratodesk or NoTouch device? The application of Stratodesk software is indeed broad. It can be used to solve challenges in mixed VDI/DaaS scenarios, as well as to handle deployments with mixed endpoints. Also, our customers use us to convert existing end user devices such as PC, laptops, tablets or All-in-ones into secure, lean, managed endpoints you might maybe call “software-based Thin Clients”. Virtually any x86 or Raspberry Pi/ARM endpoint can be a Stratodesk NoTouch Thin Client.
What is a Stratodesk Device?
First and foremost, Stratodesk devices are Linux-based. This means no more Windows. Instead of running and maintaining Windows on every single endpoint, Stratodesk lets you access your virtual desktops via NoTouch OS. NoTouch OS, the secure Linux-based operating system, runs on any device bare metal, effectively wiping the underlying OS away. It can also run side-by-side with Windows to enable work from home or personal devices. Many devices, such as All-in-One Monitors from LG, or HP Thin Clients, for example, come with Stratodesk NoTouch directly out of the box.
A Stratodesk Endpoint is Secure
Another thing to consider when asking what is a Stratodesk device is that Stratodesk endpoints are secure. Our software prevents common security threats without the need for extended malware/antivirus contracts. Furthermore, our administration solution, NoTouch Center, enables IT managers and system administrators to manage all of their Stratodesk endpoints from one location. NoTouch Center uses highly secure communication protocols to communicate between devices. Lastly, we offer an additional Disk Encryption for more specific use cases.
A Stratodesk Endpoint is Transformed
Although not always the case, many of the Stratodesk endpoints that you come into contact with day-to-day have been converted or transformed. This means that NoTouch OS has replaced the underlying, native OS on those devices, effectively turning them into Stratodesk NoTouch endpoints. NoTouch OS easily deploys onto thousands of endpoints via various convenient boot methods and transforms those endpoints into Stratodesk devices. It doesn’t really matter what the device is. Stratodesk software works cross-platform with both x86 and Rasperry Pi devices. Anything from an advanced Gaming PC to a cutting-edge Raspberry Pi 5 can easily become a Stratodesk endpoint via PC Conversion.
Stratodesk Devices Are optimal endpoints for VDI, Cloud, Enterprise Browsers & IoT
Last but not least, a Stratodesk NoTouch endpoint is perfect for VDI, Cloud, Enterprise Browser and IoT workspaces. Our software includes the clients for all major VDI solutions directly out of the box as well as the possibility to use our OS with Enterprise Browser solution such as Island and Surf.io. We also connect to any private/public cloud, enable desktop as a service, and even more insanely, IoT/Industrial Automation deployments. Any of these devices have the potential to be a Stratodesk endpoint: the fitlet2, Raspberry Pi, Compfile Pi, Nvidia Jetson Nano and more!
